Landing pages & url_id

Give an offer several destinations — A/B split by weight, partner choice with url_id=, country-specific and private pages — and report per landing page.

An offer has one Destination URL. Landing pages (offer URLs) add more destinations: split traffic for A/B tests, let partners pick a page, or send countries to localized pages. Manage them on the offer's Landing pages tab.

Add a landing page#

  1. Open the offer, tab Landing pages, click Add landing page.
  2. Fill in:
FieldNotes
NameRequired, e.g. "Quiz funnel v2".
TypeLanding page (a destination of the offer) or Pre-lander (opened with prl=1; see Pre-landers).
URLRequired. Macros such as {click_id}, {aff_id}, {sub1} and {url_id} are expanded at click time.
Preview URLShown to partners instead of the tracking destination.
WeightShare of clicks without url_id. Default 100. 0 = reachable only by url_id.
StatusActive or Paused.
CountriesOnly clicks from these countries can land here. Empty = all.
PartnersRestrict to these partners (a private landing page). Empty = all.
Visible to partnersListed in the partner link generator.
  1. Save. The table shows each page's ID with a Copy url_id button.

How a page is chosen#

For an affiliate or smart-link click that reaches the offer:

  1. url_id=<id> on the link → that page, if it is an active landing page of this offer and the click's country and partner are eligible.
  2. Otherwise a weighted random split over the eligible active landing pages with weight > 0.
  3. If no landing page is eligible → the offer's Destination URL.

An invalid, paused, deleted or ineligible url_id silently falls back to step 2 — the click is never lost.

Transparent links (url=) are never routed to a landing page; they go to their url=. Landing-page hosts are, however, added to the offer's transparent allowlist, so a Google Ads final URL on a landing-page host is accepted.

The {url_id} macro#

{url_id} expands to the ID of the landing page that served the click (empty when the destination URL was used). Use it to tell the advertiser which page converted:

URL
https://lp.example.com/quiz?cid={click_id}&lp={url_id}

Import from CSV#

Click Import CSV, then upload a file or paste rows. Header row required with name, url and optionally kind, weight, countries (space separated), preview_url, visible. Up to 200 rows; either all rows are added or none.

Partners#

  • On the offer's Tracking tab, staff pick a Landing page: "Split by weight (default)" or a specific page (url_id=…), which is appended to the generated link.
  • In the partner portal, the offer page lists the Landing pages that are Visible to partners with a copy button for url_id=<id>; the partner adds it to their tracking link.
  • Partners see the Preview URL (if set), not the tracking URL.

Reporting#

Every click stores the landing page that served it. Group reports by the Landing page dimension to compare conversion rates. Deleting a landing page keeps the ID on past clicks; links that still use its url_id fall back to the weighted split.
