Events & goals

Track several conversion steps per offer (lead, deposit, sale) with their own revenue and payout, private events, repeat conversions and advertiser-level events.

An event (goal) is a conversion step of an offer: a registration, a first deposit, a sale, an install. Each event has its own revenue and payout. Every offer starts with one event, the default event named "Conversion".

How the advertiser reports an event#

The advertiser adds event=<code> to the postback or pixel. Without event= the default event is used.

A postback with a code the offer does not have is refused with HTTP 400 and {"ok":false,"error":"unknown event \"…\" for this offer"}.

Add an event#

  1. Open the offer, tab Events, click Add event.
  2. Fill in the sheet:
FieldNotes
NameRequired, up to 120 characters, e.g. "First deposit".
CodeRequired. 1–40 lower-case letters, digits, _ or -, starting with a letter or digit. default is reserved. This is what the advertiser sends as event=.
Revenue typeRPA (fixed per conversion), RPS (% of sale amount) or Dynamic (from the postback's revenue=, else amount=).
RevenueAmount in the offer currency, or a percentage for RPS.
Payout typeCPA (fixed) or CPS (% of sale amount).
PayoutAmount or percentage.
Private eventHidden from partners and never fires their postbacks — e.g. a refund or a qualification step.
Allow multiple per clickEvery postback for the same click counts (e.g. recurring deposits). Otherwise only the first counts and repeats are stored as duplicates.
  1. Save. The pixel snippets on the Tracking tab now include a tab for the new event.

Click-based (CPC/RPC) and impression-based (CPM/RPM) types exist only at offer level; events use the per-conversion types above.

The default event#

  • Its Code is fixed (default). You can rename it and change Allow multiple per click.
  • Its revenue and payout always follow the offer's Revenue & payout tab: saving that tab updates the default event.
  • It cannot be deleted.

Which money applies#

For a conversion of event E by affiliate A the payout is resolved in this order, each level inheriting what it leaves empty:

  1. A's override for event E (offer Overrides tab)
  2. A's override for all events
  3. Event E's terms
  4. The offer's terms

Revenue follows the same chain. Payout rules and commission tiers are applied afterwards. The Revenue & payout tab lists Terms by event.

Repeat conversions and duplicates#

SettingEffect
Offer One conversion per click on, event without Allow multiple per clickSecond postback for the same click + event → stored as duplicate (rejected, reason duplicate), no postbacks fire.
Event with Allow multiple per clickEach postback is a new conversion.
Same txid (order ID) for the same offerTreated as the same conversion: identical repeats are duplicates; a different status updates it.

Change or delete an event#

  • The Code cannot change once the event has conversions (it is part of the advertiser's integration).
  • An event with conversions cannot be deleted. Mark it Private event instead.
  • Deleting an event removes its payout overrides. Postbacks with that code are then refused as an unknown event.

Advertiser events (shared across offers)#

Define a goal once per advertiser and reuse it on every offer of that advertiser. Open Advertiser events (https://app.trackcrown.com/app/offers/advertiser-events), choose the advertiser, and click New event (sheet New advertiser event):

FieldNotes
Namee.g. "First deposit".
Codee.g. ftd. 1–64 characters: lower-case letters, digits, _, . or -.
Revenue type / RevenueFixed (RPA), % of sale (RPS) or Dynamic.
Payout type / PayoutFixed (CPA) or % of sale (CPS).
Add to every offerOn by default: creates (or links) this event on all current and future offers of the advertiser.

The advertiser then reports adv_event=<code> instead of event=:

URL
https://trackcrown.com/pb?click_id=CLICK_ID&adv_event=ftd&token=ADVERTISER_TOKEN

An explicit event= wins over adv_event=. An adv_event code that is not linked to the offer is refused as an unknown event.

Reporting#

Use the Event dimension in Reporting → Reports to split conversions, revenue and payout per goal. Partners see public events only.
